On March 26th, we launched the GUESS-WHy Stakeholder Event, bringing together experts from industry, research, and policy to begin shaping practical Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) guidelines for hydrogen technologies.
The event stood out for the depth of the discussions, the quality of the questions, and the willingness to collaborate across sectors. We tackled some of the key challenges facing SSbD implementation:
– How can sustainability criteria be realistically applied in industrial settings?
– Where are the gaps in data, guidance, and clarity?
– How do we strike the right balance between innovation and responsibility?
Over 50 participants engaged in focused discussions across three dedicated working tables — Research, Policymakers, and Industry — using interactive tools like Mentimeter to explore critical questions. The level of engagement and insight in each session made it clear: this was more than a launch — it was the beginning of a shared journey toward a safer, more sustainable hydrogen future.
