The GUESS-WHy project was presented at the 25th World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC 2026), held from 22–26 June 2026 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. As one of the world’s leading events dedicated to hydrogen technologies, WHEC brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and innovation stakeholders from across the globe to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest developments in the sector. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the project’s international visibility and disseminate project outcomes to a broad scientific and industrial audience, while fostering dialogue on the importance of integrating sustainability and safety into the development of future hydrogen technologies.
As part of the conference programme, K. El Jardali from IMDEA Energy presented the work entitled “Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment as a Driver for Safe and Sustainable-by-Design Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Stacks”, developed in collaboration with researchers from IMDEA Energy, Rey Juan Carlos University and AVL List GmbH. The presentation highlighted research carried out within the framework of GUESS-WHy, demonstrating how lifecycle sustainability assessment can support the implementation of the project’s Safe and Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) approach for hydrogen technologies.
By participating in WHEC 2026, we further expanded our outreach within the international hydrogen community, reinforcing the project’s commitment to scientific excellence, knowledge exchange and the promotion of safe and sustainable innovation across the hydrogen value chain.
