We presented at the 2026 European Conference on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (R.A.M.S. Europe 2026), held on 24–25 June 2026 in Trondheim, Norway. The conference brought together researchers and industry experts to exchange knowledge on reliability, safety and sustainable systems.
During the event, SINTEF Energy Research, together with AVL List GmbH and Bluenergy Revolution, presented the paper “A Comparative Risk Analysis of Fuel Cell and Electrolyzer Failure Modes.” The study compares the safety aspects of four key hydrogen technologies—SOEC, SOFC, PEMEL and PEMFC—using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify critical failure modes and mitigation strategies. The work supports the GUESS-WHy project’s Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach by providing valuable insights for the development of safer and more reliable hydrogen technologies.
Events such as R.A.M.S. Europe 2026 offer a valuable opportunity to present project outcomes, encourage collaboration, and enhance the visibility of research supporting the transition to safe and sustainable hydrogen technologies.
We were pleased to contribute to this important scientific event, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening collaboration within the hydrogen research community.
